About the author
The Center for Art in Wood is not an individual author but a Philadelphia-based museum and educational organization devoted to wood art, and the books listed under its name are exhibition and craft publications rather than the work of a single writer. Robin Wood's Cores Recycled, published by Schiffer Publishing in 2015, documents the turned-wood cores left over from bowl-making by British pole-lathe turner Robin Wood and their reuse as objects in their own right. Bartram's Boxes Remix, from Schiffer Craft in 2014, connects contemporary wood-turned boxes to the legacy of John Bartram, the eighteenth-century Philadelphia botanist and garden founder. Both books grew out of exhibitions organized by the Center and pair historical or craft context with photographs of finished pieces. They are intended for woodturners, craft collectors, and readers interested in the history and current practice of wood as an art medium.
