About the author
Stéphane Allix is a French journalist and founder of INREES, the Institut de recherche sur les expériences extraordinaires, an organization devoted to investigating reports of near-death experiences, mediumship, and other anomalous phenomena. He turned to this subject after the death of his brother led him to investigate claims of contact with the deceased, an inquiry that shaped The Test: Incredible Proof of the Afterlife, built around an experiment in which a man conceals five objects in his father's coffin to see whether a medium can identify them. His more recent book, Death Does Not Exist: What Science and Spirituality Can Teach Us about the Afterlife (HarperOne), follows in the tradition of Raymond Moody's Life After Life, combining personal testimony with research on near-death experience. Allix writes as an investigator of these claims rather than a practitioner, presenting evidence for readers to weigh themselves.
