About the author
Spider Webb is a tattoo artist whose books, published by Schiffer, document decades of work in American tattoo art. Spider Webb's Classic Tattoo Flash and Spider Webb's Angels: Ink from Above collect his flash designs and imagery, ranging from traditional dragons and mythological beasts to angel and religious iconography, while Dragons and Butterfly Flash gather his work within single thematic bodies of imagery. Pushing Ink: The Fine Art of Tattooing, originally published in 1979, is presented as an early and influential document of tattoo culture, photographing tattooed men and women at a time when the art was still largely stigmatized in the West. Across the catalogue, Webb's books function as visual portfolios and reference collections rather than instructional manuals, intended for tattoo artists, collectors, and readers interested in the history and iconography of American tattooing.
