About the author
Silvia Hill writes introductory guides to folk and shamanic spiritual traditions, published by Joelan AB. Celtic Shamanism (2023) covers Celtic Druidry, earth magic, spells, symbols, and tree astrology as an entry point for readers new to Celtic religious and spiritual practice. Norse Shamanism (2023) covers Nordic shamanic ritual, belief, magic, and herbalism connected to Viking-era culture. African Spiritual Practices (2023) surveys Yoruba tradition, Santeria, Voodoo, Hoodoo, and the Orishas, framed as an attempt to present these traditions without the Western lens the author suggests other guides bring to the subject. All three books follow a similar question-and-answer structure aimed at readers with little or no prior background, offering broad overviews of belief, practice, and terminology rather than in-depth ethnographic or historical treatment. Hill's work functions as a beginner's series across distinct folk-magic traditions rather than a study of any single one in depth.
