About the author
Alison Davies is a storyteller and folklore writer whose catalogue spans nature folklore, tarot, and seasonal ritual. Her books include The Folklore of Birds (2025) and Floral Folklore (2024), both published by Leaping Hare, which gather traditional beliefs and stories associated with birds and plants; The Celtic Year (2025) and The Mystical Year (2020), from Quadrille Publishing, which follow the Wheel of the Year through Celtic and seasonal folklore; The Tales Behind Tarot (2023, Leaping Hare), which retells the stories behind each card in the tarot deck; and Charms & Symbols (2022, Pyramid Publishing), on the history of protective signs and marks across cultures. Davies is described by her publishers as a storyteller and tarot teacher, and her books consistently approach folklore through narrative and story-based explanation rather than through ritual instruction, making them suited to readers interested in the cultural history behind folk beliefs.
