About the author
Rick Strassman is an American clinical psychiatrist best known for conducting government-approved human research on DMT at the University of New Mexico in the 1990s, work he first described in his book DMT: The Spirit Molecule, represented here in Spanish translation as Dmt: La Molécula del Espíritu. That book gives an account of his research program and proposes a biological explanation for mystical and near-death experiences associated with the compound. In DMT and the Soul of Prophecy, published by Park Street Press, Strassman extends his research into the Hebrew Bible, arguing that naturally occurring DMT may produce states resembling those described by biblical prophets and drawing comparisons between prophetic visions and the accounts given by his study volunteers. Strassman writes for readers interested in the clinical and neurochemical study of altered states rather than psychedelic use as recreation.
