About the author
R. Ogilvie Crombie, often referred to by the initials Roc, was a Scottish figure closely associated with the early Findhorn Foundation community in Scotland, known for his accounts of encounters with what he described as nature spirits and elemental beings. Encounters with Pan and the Elemental Kingdom records conversations he said took place between 1972 and 1974, following what he described as a meeting with the nature god Pan and his subsequent conversations with other elemental beings. Encounters with Nature Spirits: Co-Creating with the Elemental Kingdom (2018, Findhorn Press) presents a fuller, first-hand account of these experiences, framed as testimony rather than instruction. Both books are part of the literature produced around the Findhorn community, which became known in the 1970s for its claims about cooperative relationships between humans and nature intelligences. Crombie's writing is presented as personal record of direct experience, and readers approach it as such rather than as a manual for elemental contact or a work of natural science.
