About the author
R. J. Cavender is credited as editor of the Horror Library anthology series, published by Dark Moon Books, with volumes one through four collected here in 2021 reprintings. Each volume gathers contemporary horror short fiction from a range of authors working in the genre, assembled under a single editorial vision rather than written by one author. The series is positioned within horror fiction publishing as a recurring showcase for short-form dark and macabre storytelling, rather than as a work of nonfiction on occult or paranormal subject matter. Readers drawn to these volumes are typically horror fiction readers looking for anthologies of new short stories rather than readers researching esoteric or occult topics. Cavender's role across the four volumes is as curator and editor, selecting and organizing the contributing authors' work, and the books are best understood as a continuing anthology project rather than the output of an individual author's own writing.
