About the author
Peter Marchand has written two books on yoga and tantra for Destiny Books. The Yoga of Truth: Jnana: The Ancient Path of Silent Knowledge, from 2007, presents Jnana Yoga as a practice of direct contemplation, distinguishing the changeable content of personality, thought and memory from an underlying witnessing consciousness identified with the true self. The Yoga of the Nine Emotions: The Tantric Practice of Rasa Sadhana, from 2006, takes a different angle, using traditional Tantric and Ayurvedic categories of the nine Rasas, or basic emotions, as the basis for exercises aimed at emotional balance and well-being. Together the two books address complementary aspects of yogic practice, one focused on knowledge and self-inquiry, the other on the deliberate working of emotion, and both are written for readers with some existing grounding in yoga philosophy rather than complete beginners.
