About the author
Penny C Morrill has written on Mexican decorative arts, with two books from Schiffer focused specifically on silver. Silver Masters of Mexico: Héctor Aguilar and the Taller Borda, from 1997, documents the silversmiths and designers of the Taller Borda workshop through 484 color photographs, concentrating on the career of Héctor Aguilar. Dreaming in Silver / Soñar en Plata: Silver Artists of Modern Mexico is a bilingual English/Spanish study tracing lines of influence among twentieth-century Mexican sculptors, painters and architects who worked in silver and helped shape the modern Mexican silver industry. Both books are illustrated reference works aimed at collectors, dealers and researchers of Mexican silver and decorative arts, built around close documentation of individual workshops, designers and objects rather than general cultural history. Morrill's focus across both titles is the craft history and stylistic development of Mexican silver design across the twentieth century.
