About the author
Patrick Harpur is a British writer and translator whose work explores the boundary between myth, imagination, and the paranormal in Western thought. He is best known for developing the idea of "daimonic reality," the notion that fairies, UFOs, ghosts, and other anomalous phenomena belong to a consistent imaginal order rather than to literal fact or simple delusion, most fully set out in Daimonic Reality: A Field Guide to the Otherworld (Pine Winds Press). His other work, including The Secret Tradition of the Soul (North Atlantic Books), traces a visionary current running from Greek philosophy through Neoplatonism and Renaissance thought into modern esotericism, arguing that this tradition offers a coherent way of approaching questions of meaning and selfhood that mainstream philosophy has largely abandoned. Harpur writes in an essayistic, literate style, drawing on folklore, depth psychology, and the history of ideas rather than personal testimony or practical instruction.
