About the author
Mike Bezemek writes about the American outdoors and its stranger corners. Mysteries of the National Parks: 35 Stories of Baffling Disappearances, Unexplained Phenomena, and More (Sourcebooks, 2025) collects accounts from the national park system, covering unresolved disappearances, unexplained sightings, and the abandonment of ancestral stone cities in mountain landscapes, alongside the natural history that surrounds them. The book is structured as a series of standalone stories rather than a single investigative narrative, moving park by park through cases the author frames as genuinely unresolved rather than debunked or confirmed. It is aimed at readers who enjoy national park travel and outdoor writing as much as unexplained-phenomena collections, blending guidebook-style detail about the parks themselves with the mystery narratives. Bezemek's approach keeps the emphasis on place and documented incident rather than on supernatural interpretation or paranormal theory.
