About the author
Martin Goldsmith, as credited in this catalogue, is the author of two astrology reference books from Weiser Books and Redfeather: Zodiac by Degrees, revised in a second edition in 2015, and Moon Phases: A Symbolic Key. Zodiac by Degrees provides symbolic interpretations for each of the 360 individual degrees of the zodiac, intended as a detailed reference for chart reading beyond the twelve standard signs. Moon Phases: A Symbolic Key works through the moon's twenty-eight traditional phases, rather than the more commonly cited four, offering interpretations tied to personality, motivation, and perception. Both books are structured as reference works rather than narrative reading, aimed at astrologers, whether beginning students or experienced practitioners, who want granular symbolic material to apply directly to chart interpretation. Goldsmith's approach across both titles favors systematic breakdown, degree by degree or phase by phase, over broad thematic discussion of astrology.
