About the author
Mario Dos Ventos is the author of a series of grimoires published through Lulu.com that draw on Afro-Brazilian and Romani spiritual traditions. The Purple Flame: A Grimoire of Gypsy Sorcery, Wandering Spirits and Ancestral Freedom (2025) engages with the Povo Cigano, spirits addressed through cards, flame, and dream within Umbanda and Quimbanda practice, while Walking with the Dead: The Living Practice of Espiritismo Cruzado (2025) covers a Spiritism-influenced tradition centered on healing and communion with the dead. Witch Bone: The Grimoire of Necromancy, Pacts, and Cemetery Witchcraft addresses graveyard work and Quimbanda ritual. Across the three titles, Dos Ventos writes practice-oriented material for readers already engaged with Latin American spiritist and Afro-diasporic traditions, rather than introductory surveys for newcomers to these practices.
