About the author
Marilynne K. Roach is an American historian recognized for her research into the Salem witch trials of 1692–1693. Her book The Salem Witch Trials: A Day-by-Day Chronicle of a Community Under Siege (Taylor Trade Publishing, 2004) is based on decades of archival research, including previously unpublished documents, and reconstructs the crisis as a day-by-day narrative. Six Women of Salem: The Untold Story of the Accused and Their Accusers in the Salem Witch Trials (Grand Central Publishing) follows six women's lives to illuminate the broader crisis from multiple angles. Roach's work is grounded in primary-source research rather than speculation about witchcraft itself, and her books are used by both general readers and students of colonial American history as detailed, document-based accounts of the trials.
