About the author
Lora O'Brien is an Irish author and priestess working within contemporary Irish Paganism, known for combining scholarship on Irish mythology with practical guidance for those in spiritual leadership roles. Her book The Morrigan, Ireland's Goddess: Sovereign Secrets from an Irish View, published by Llewellyn, presents the mythology and significance of the Mórrígan from an explicitly Irish perspective, distinguishing her approach from more generalized neopagan treatments of Celtic deities. Her earlier work, A Practical Guide to Pagan Priesthood: Community Leadership and Vocation, addresses the practical demands of Pagan ministry, covering the duties and challenges facing those who lead covens, groups or congregations. Across both books, O'Brien writes as a practitioner and community leader rather than a purely academic commentator, and her material is aimed at readers already engaged with Irish Pagan tradition or considering roles of spiritual leadership within it, rather than at complete newcomers to Paganism.
