About the author
Julia Gordon-Bramer is an American tarot teacher and writer known for her scholarship connecting tarot symbolism to the life and work of poet Sylvia Plath, built on more than a decade of research into Plath's papers. Her book The Occult Sylvia Plath: The Hidden Spiritual Life of the Visionary Poet, published by Destiny Books in 2024, argues that Plath had a sustained interest in mysticism and the occult, and decodes alchemical, Qabalistic, hermetic, and tarot references she identifies throughout Plath's poetry. Her earlier book, Tarot Life Lessons: Living Wisdom from the Major Arcana, also from Destiny Books, draws on decades of experience as a professional tarot reader to illustrate each card of the Major Arcana through stories from client readings. Gordon-Bramer's work sits at the intersection of literary criticism and tarot practice, aimed at readers interested in both Plath's biography and tarot as a tool for insight.
