About the author
John E. Upledger (1932-2012) was an American osteopathic physician who developed CranioSacral Therapy (CST), a hands-on approach to assessing and easing restrictions in the tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Following research at Michigan State University in the 1970s, he founded the Upledger Institute to teach the method to physical therapists, massage therapists, and other bodyworkers. His books, published by North Atlantic Books, set out both technique and rationale: "CranioSacral Therapy: Touchstone for Natural Healing" recounts how he arrived at the method through case studies, while "Your Inner Physician and You" and "Somatoemotional Release" extend the work into the psychotherapeutic territory he called SomatoEmotional Release. "Working Wonders" gathers accounts from practitioners trained in his system. Together the catalogue documents one physician's decades-long case for a specific manual therapy, aimed at bodywork practitioners and readers curious about the method's history and practice.
