About the author
Jessa Dean writes a series of illustrated regional ghost-story collections for Arcadia Children's Books, each tied to a specific haunted American city. The Ghostly Tales of Sleepy Hollow (2021) draws on Washington Irving's famous tale and the town's own local legends, while The Ghostly Tales of Albuquerque (2021) and The Ghostly Tales of St. Augustine and St. Johns County (2021) each work through documented local haunts, from a restaurant said to echo with ghostly cowboy boots to the Castillo de San Marcos and its headless soldier. The Ghostly Tales of Savannah (2020) covers the city's own well-known hauntings, including the Sorrel-Weed House. Written and pitched for younger readers, the series is consistently described by its publisher as creepy, fun, and full of mystery, favoring approachable storytelling and local color over historical depth or scholarly sourcing.
