About the author
Itzhak Bentov (1923-1979) was a Czech-born American inventor and writer who became known for his popular explorations of consciousness and physics. Trained as a mechanical and biomedical engineer, he held patents in medical devices before turning to writing about the nature of awareness, drawing on his engineering background to explain difficult concepts in plain terms. His best-known book, "Stalking the Wild Pendulum: On the Mechanics of Consciousness" (1988), sets out his model of the universe and human consciousness in accessible, often humorous language and became a touchstone for readers interested in the overlap between physics and mysticism. "A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness," published posthumously by Destiny Books, continues the same project, addressing perception and the structure of reality. Bentov died in 1979 in the crash of American Airlines Flight 191, and his books have remained in print since.
