About the author
Ian Stevenson, M.D. was a Canadian-born American psychiatrist who spent much of his career at the University of Virginia, where he founded the Division of Perceptual Studies. He is best known for decades of case-based research into children who report memories of previous lives, published in works such as "Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect" and the two-volume "Reincarnation and Biology: A Contribution to the Etiology of Birthmarks and Birth Defects." His method was to travel and interview children and their families across South Asia, Lebanon, Turkey, West Africa and North America, documenting reported past-life memories alongside birthmarks and birth defects that seemed to correspond to wounds on the deceased person recalled. His books, issued by Praeger, present this material as case studies rather than argument, leaving readers to weigh the evidence themselves. Stevenson remains a reference point for anyone researching claims of reincarnation from a clinical, documentary angle.
