About the author
Gillia M. Olson is the author of the Curious About series of nonfiction books for young readers, published by Amicus, including Curious About Ghosts and Curious About Haunted Places. Each title uses a question-and-answer, inquiry-based format aimed at early and elementary readers, posing questions about the appearance, behavior, and reported evidence behind ghosts and haunted locations, and encouraging children to weigh the evidence rather than presenting firm conclusions. The books include infographics summarizing key claims and, in some editions, a research-skills feature that doubles as an introduction to media literacy. Issued in slightly different editions by Amicus Learning and Amicus Ink for different age bands, the series is designed for classroom and library use as much as independent reading. Olson's approach across these titles favors structured curiosity over either debunking or endorsing paranormal claims, positioning the books as an entry point for children's critical thinking about widely circulated spooky stories.
