About the author
Craig Boutland has written illustrated nonfiction for young readers on paranormal topics, published by Lerner Publications, including Ghoulish Ghosts and The Poltergeist Enigma. Both books lay out the historical evidence and the popular theories that have been offered for and against the existence of ghosts and poltergeists, pairing accessible text with striking imagery aimed at reluctant or high-interest readers. Rather than arguing for a particular conclusion, the books present documented cases and competing explanations side by side, encouraging readers to weigh the evidence themselves. They sit within Lerner's high-interest nonfiction catalogue, designed for school and library use with younger audiences drawn to paranormal subject matter. Boutland's approach favors historical record over anecdote, giving readers a structured introduction to two of the most commonly discussed categories of reported paranormal activity.
