About the author
Claude Bristol was an American journalist, lawyer and writer best known for The Magic of Believing, first published in 1948 and reissued many times since, including editions from Tarcher and Embassy Books. The book argues that sustained belief and visualization shape a person's ability to achieve their goals, drawing on Bristol's observations of successful businesspeople alongside ideas from New Thought and early self-help writing. It became one of the best-selling motivational books of the twentieth century and has remained continuously in print. Bristol also wrote TNT: It Rocks the Earth, sometimes bundled as a bonus text with later editions of The Magic of Believing. His work sits near the start of the modern self-help and positive-thinking tradition, and later reissues continue to present it as a foundational title in that genre.
