About the author
Christopher Partridge is a scholar of religious studies known for his work on contemporary and alternative religion, popular culture, and Western esotericism. He is the editor of The Occult World, published by Routledge, a comprehensive reference volume that surveys the history of Western occultism from its ancient and medieval sources through the Renaissance and into nineteenth- and twentieth-century and contemporary forms. Bringing together contributions from multiple scholars, the book is designed as an overview for students and researchers rather than a work of practical instruction, covering the full sweep of occult history in a single reference text. Partridge's broader academic work has examined how occult and esoteric ideas circulate through popular culture, and The Occult World reflects that same interest in tracing esotericism as a living, evolving tradition rather than treating it as a closed historical subject.
