About the author
Carl McColman is a writer on Christian contemplative spirituality and mysticism, known for books that introduce the contemplative tradition in accessible, non-academic terms. His publisher Broadleaf Books has released "The New Big Book of Christian Mysticism: An Essential Guide to Contemplative Spirituality" (2023) and "Read the Bible Like a Mystic: Contemplative Wisdom and the Word" (2025), both continuing his long-standing focus on making mystical and contemplative practice available to a broad readership rather than specialists alone. Read the Bible Like a Mystic approaches scripture through a lens of inclusive, unconditional love, addressing the difficulties of biblical reading while pointing toward its contemplative and life-affirming dimensions. McColman writes for readers across and beyond Christian tradition who are drawn to prayer, silence, and the mystical strand of religious life rather than doctrinal argument, favoring plain explanation and practical entry points into contemplative practice.
