About the author
Brandon Weston writes on the folk magic traditions of the Ozark Mountains, drawing on regional lore, healing plants, and verbal charms. His book Ozark Folk Magic: Plants, Prayers & Healing (Llewellyn Publications, 2021) documents traditional Ozark healing practices, herbal recipes, and magical tools passed down in that region. Granny Thornapple's Book of Charms (2024) continues this focus through a narrative frame, following a character raised in the Ozark charming tradition of rhymes and verses used in folk magic. Both books, from Llewellyn, present Ozark folk magic as a specific regional tradition distinct from Wicca or ceremonial magic, combining lore collection with practical instruction in charms and plant-based remedies. Readers interested in American folk magic traditions, particularly those tied to a specific place and lineage of practice, are the intended audience for Weston's work.
