About the author
Bradford Keeney is an American author and therapist known for his work bridging family therapy with cross-cultural shamanic practice, particularly his long engagement with the Kalahari Bushmen. His catalogue here includes Bushman Shaman: Awakening the Spirit Through Ecstatic Dance, which recounts his initiation into Bushman healing traditions, and Shaking Medicine, which examines ecstatic movement as a healing practice found among Quakers, Shakers, and Bushmen alike, among other groups. Shamanic Christianity applies the same lens to Christian mysticism, reading figures such as Jesus and Mary through a shamanic framework, while Crazy Wisdom Tales for Dead Heads links trickster storytelling traditions to the culture around the Grateful Dead. Across these Destiny Books and Station Hill Press titles, Keeney's consistent subject is ecstatic and embodied healing practice viewed comparatively across cultures, aimed at readers interested in shamanism, movement-based healing, and mystical experience.
