About the author
Zolrak is the author of two books on West African-derived divination published by Llewellyn: The Tarot of the Orishas, created with artist Durkon, and African Cowrie Shells Divination: History, Theory & Practice. The Tarot of the Orishas presents a divinatory deck built around the Yoruba orishas rather than the conventional tarot arcana, and the accompanying book explains its imagery and use. African Cowrie Shells Divination covers a separate but related practice, the casting of cowrie shells to read messages associated with Ifá, a system with origins among the Yoruba people of West Africa. Both books are written for readers with an existing interest in African and Afro-diasporic spiritual traditions who want a practical, how-to introduction to a specific divination method, combining historical background with instructions for use rather than offering a general survey of tarot or divination.
