About the author
Susan Smitten is a ghost-story writer whose catalogued titles, published by Ghost House Books between 2002 and 2021, include Ghost Stories of the Appalachians, Ghost Stories of Oregon, Ghost Stories of New York State, Ghosts of the World, and Guardian Angels. Her books collect regional hauntings and eyewitness accounts, moving from named battlefields and mountain ranges to specific reputed haunted sites such as the Oregon Vortex. Guardian Angels shifts to accounts of angelic intervention, again built from reported testimonials rather than doctrine. Across the series Smitten works as a compiler and interviewer, gathering local lore and personal stories into place-based collections. The books suit readers drawn to regional folklore and ghost-hunting guides, particularly those planning to visit the sites described, rather than readers looking for analysis or history of the supernatural as a subject.
