About the author
Patricia A. Martinelli is the author of two regional ghost-lore collections, Haunted Delaware, published by Stackpole Books, and Haunted New Jersey: Ghosts and Strange Phenomena of the Garden State, published by Globe Pequot. Haunted Delaware gathers accounts of unexplained phenomena tied to specific local figures and places, including the reputed murderess Patty Cannon and the folklore surrounding Belltown. Haunted New Jersey ranges more widely across the state, from coastal legends of phantom pirates and water monsters to inland tales rooted in the state's farmland history. Both books follow the format typical of regional ghost-story publishing, pairing local history and geography with collected legends and reported hauntings site by site. They are aimed at readers interested in Mid-Atlantic folklore and ghost tourism, offering a state-by-state survey of local legend rather than an argument for or against the phenomena described.
