About the author
Marc Hartzman is the author of Chasing Ghosts: A Tour of Our Fascination with Spirits and the Supernatural, published in editions from Quirk Books and Blackstone Publishing. The book surveys America's relationship with ghost belief, moving between haunted sites, well-known ghost stories, and the way spirits have been absorbed into popular culture through film, television, and local legend. Rather than arguing for or against the existence of ghosts, it takes the persistence and variety of ghost belief itself as its subject, treating hauntings as a lens on American folklore and popular imagination. The tone is conversational and wide-ranging, built for readers who want an overview of the subject rather than a single deep case study. Chasing Ghosts sits within the spiritualism section of the catalogue as an accessible entry point into American ghost lore, useful both for casual readers and for those looking for a starting map of the terrain before pursuing more specialized reading.
