About the author
Leanna Renee Hieber is a novelist and nonfiction writer working in Gothic and ghost-lore history. America's Most Gothic: Haunted History Stranger Than Fiction (Citadel Press, 2025) was an instant USA Today bestseller and examines the Gothic tropes running through American folklore and reputedly haunted history. A Haunted History of Invisible Women: True Stories of America's Ghosts (Citadel Press, 2022), co-authored with a writing partner, recovers the stories of women connected to American hauntings, from Lizzie Borden to Sarah Winchester's mansion, and was a Bram Stoker Award nominee. Both books blend historical research with ghost-story tradition, and Hieber is associated with the Boroughs of the Dead walking-tour project referenced in her publicity. Her work sits at the intersection of popular history and paranormal writing, aimed at readers of American Gothic and ghost-lore nonfiction.
