About the author
Kim Krans is an American artist and author best known for The Wild Unknown Tarot Deck and Guidebook, published by HarperOne, which became a New York Times bestseller and is widely credited with reshaping the look and reach of tarot for a new generation of readers. She followed it with further decks in the same hand-illustrated style, including The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck, The Wild Unknown Archetypes Deck, and The Wild Unknown Alchemy Deck, each pairing a full card set with a companion guidebook. Her decks combine original artwork - drawing on animal imagery, mythic figures, and alchemical symbolism - with accessible written guidance, aimed at both newcomers to tarot and established readers. Krans's work sits at the intersection of illustration and divination practice, and her books have been central to the recent popularization of tarot outside specialist occult publishing.
