About the author
Katie Gerrard is the author of Seidr: The Gate Is Open and Odin's Gateways: A Practical Guide to the Wisdom of the Runes Through Galdr, Sigils and Casting, both published by Avalonia. Seidr examines the early Norse system of shamanistic trance practice associated with the god Odin and the goddess Freyja, presenting the current as a living magical tradition rather than a purely historical subject. Odin's Gateways turns to the runes, offering a practical approach to their use through chanting (galdr), sigil work, and casting methods, drawing on Old Norse sources including the Poetic Edda. Both books are written for practitioners of Norse and Northern European magical traditions who want applied technique alongside cultural and mythological grounding, rather than for readers seeking a general historical survey of Norse religion.
