Janice Tremeear Pestana is the author, under this married name, of regional ghost-story books published by History Press, several of them shared with or overlapping the author catalogued separately as Janice Tremeear. Missouri's Haunted Route 66: Ghosts Along the Mother Road, from 2012, traces reported hauntings along roughly three hundred miles of Missouri highway, including roadside hitchhikers and the Goatman of Rolla. Haunted Jefferson City: Ghosts of Missouri's State Capital gathers ghost lore tied to the state capital, from Native American folklore to stories of shifting graves along the Missouri River. Haunted Ozarks covers ghost lore of that region against the backdrop of Civil War and Trail of Tears history, and Illinois' Haunted Route 66 extends the Route 66 theme north to Chicago. These books are regional local-history titles aimed at readers interested in Midwestern ghost lore rather than academic or occult studies.
