About the author
Ian Flynn is a comic book writer best known for his long run scripting Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man titles for IDW Publishing and Archie Comics. His tarot work extends that background in licensed pop-culture storytelling into divinatory card decks: World of Warcraft: The Official Tarot Deck and Guidebook (2024, Insight Editions) pairs original artwork inspired by the video game series with a standard tarot structure and guidebook, while The Official Sonic the Hedgehog: Amy Rose's Fortune Card Deck reworks tarot's Major Arcana using original Sonic-franchise artwork centered on the character Amy Rose. Both decks are aimed less at traditional tarot practitioners than at fans of the source games who want a themed collectible deck with guidebook explanations of card meanings. Flynn's role on these projects sits closer to franchise writing and creative direction than to tarot scholarship or divination practice.
