About the author
Helene Lespagnard is credited as the artist behind two illustrated tarot decks, the Whimsical Witch Tarot in a Tin, published by U.S. Games Systems, and the Magickal Cats Tarot, published by Microcosm Publishing. Both decks apply a comic-book-influenced, lighthearted visual style to the traditional tarot structure: the Whimsical Witch Tarot renders the standard 78 cards through plant and creature characters in a keepsake tin edition, while the Magickal Cats Tarot reimagines the same card set entirely through feline figures, giving each cat its own pose and character. The decks are aimed at readers who want a tarot deck that is playful and approachable in tone rather than solemn in appearance, while still following the standard 78-card major and minor arcana format. Both are presented as suitable for a wide range of ages and levels of tarot experience, from beginners to established collectors.
