About the author
Freya Aswynn is a Dutch-born author and teacher associated with the modern revival of Northern European rune magic and Heathen spirituality, and a figure who has been both influential and controversial within that revival. Her books, several published by Llewellyn and Thoth Publications, treat the runes as a system of divination and magic bound up with what she calls the feminine powers of the Northern tradition, including Northern Mysteries and Magick, a revised edition of her earlier Leaves of Yggdrasil, and Power and Principles of the Runes. Walking With Wodan is a more recent, explicitly autobiographical book tracing her own path through adversity and initiation into rune work. Aswynn writes from decades of personal practice and teaching within the Northern Tradition rather than as an academic historian, and her books are directed at practitioners of rune magic and Heathenry.
