About the author
Elizabeth Randall writes regional ghost-story collections set in Florida, represented here by Haunted St. Augustine and St. Johns County (History Press, 2013) and Women in White: The Haunting of Northeast Florida (Schiffer Publishing). The first traces hauntings through one of the earliest-settled parts of the United States, weaving Native American, early European and modern accounts of the area into a single history-driven narrative. The second collects twenty-nine tales from four counties in northeast Florida, centered on the recurring figure of the Woman in White, a spectral female presence reported in mirrors, doorways and roadside locations. Both books sit within the spiritualism category of regional folklore writing, aimed at readers interested in local history filtered through ghost lore rather than academic analysis. Randall ties specific sites and county histories to the stories attached to them, making her books useful as guides to Florida's reputed hauntings.
