About the author
Ed Okonowicz is an American author and folklorist known for decades of writing on Mid-Atlantic ghost lore and regional history, much of it centered on Delaware and Maryland. His catalogue titles include Haunted Maryland: Ghosts and Strange Phenomena of the Old Line State (2020) and The Big Book of Maryland Ghost Stories (2019), both surveying tales from the Appalachian Mountains to the Atlantic coast, and Civil War Ghosts at Fort Delaware (2012), which focuses on the Civil War-era island prison and its reported hauntings among captured Confederate soldiers and political prisoners. Okonowicz builds his accounts from local history, staff and visitor testimony, and site research, a method consistent across his broader body of regional folklore writing. His work is aimed at readers interested in Mid-Atlantic history and haunted-site touring as much as at dedicated ghost-story readers.
