Chris Woodyard has written the long-running Haunted Ohio series for Kestrel Publications, collecting regional ghost stories from around the state. Haunted Ohio: Ghostly Tales from the Buckeye State began the series with more than 125 stories, most previously unpublished, ranging from Native American ghostlore to more recent accounts. Haunted Ohio III: Still More Ghostly Tales from the Buckeye State and the 2024 volume Haunted Ohio II continue the collection with further stories, including recurring local legends such as Franklin Castle and the Faceless Hitchhiker. The books present the material as collected folklore and reported first-hand accounts rather than as investigated or verified paranormal research, and are aimed at readers interested in regional ghost lore and local history.
