About the author
Catherine Crowe was a Victorian-era British novelist, children's author, and non-fiction writer, remembered chiefly for The Night Side of Nature, a two-volume collection of ghost stories and supernatural anecdotes first published in 1848 that became one of the best-selling works of its kind and went through numerous editions. She also wrote Spiritualism, and the Age We Live In, reflecting her active engagement with the era's growing interest in spiritualism and the supernatural, and she moved in literary circles that included correspondents such as William Makepeace Thackeray and Harriet Martineau. Cambridge University Press has reissued both The Night Side of Nature and Spiritualism, and the Age We Live In as part of its library of historical reprints.
