About the author
Bruce Orr is the author of several regional ghost-story books focused on the South Carolina Lowcountry, published mainly by History Press, including Haunted Summerville, Ghosts of Berkeley County, South Carolina, and Ghosts of the USS Yorktown: The Phantoms of Patriots Point. The books follow a consistent format: local history of a town, county, or specific site, paired with accounts of reported hauntings drawn from residents, visitors, and staff. Ghosts of the USS Yorktown centers on the retired aircraft carrier at Patriots Point, gathering decades of reported disembodied voices and apparitions from staff and visitors aboard the ship. Haunted Summerville and Ghosts of Berkeley County extend the same approach to the towns and colonial-era communities near Charleston, tracing local legend back through Native American, colonial, and Gullah history. Orr writes for readers interested in regional history and folklore as much as the paranormal claims themselves.
