About the author
Ainslie MacLeod is the author of The Instruction: Living the Life Your Soul Intended and The Old Soul's Guidebook: Who You Are, Why You're Here, & How to Navigate Life on Earth, both built around the idea that a soul's past incarnations shape a person's present purpose and choices. The Instruction, published in 2009 by St. Martin's Essentials in association with Sounds True and also issued in a large-print edition, sets out a method for identifying that purpose; The Old Soul's Guidebook extends the same framework, treating personality, beliefs, and talents as residue of prior lives that readers can learn to read. Publisher material describes MacLeod as a psychic, and the books are pitched at readers drawn to past-life and soul-purpose frameworks rather than to a specific religious or magical tradition. Both titles are catalogued under spiritualism and aim at a general audience looking for a structured, book-length approach to the question of life purpose.
