Exactly what I was looking for. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. If you're drawn to this subject, don't hesitate.
Finally got around to ordering this. You can tell why this work has endured. I'd have loved an index, but that's on the original text. Still worth having on the shelf.

My third book from this store and this one might be the best. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. The ideas are old but land with surprising force today. Glad I finally picked this up.
