This has been on my wishlist for months. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. If you're drawn to this subject, don't hesitate.
I've read excerpts online before, but having the full text is different. Not a light read, but far more accessible than I feared. It assumes more background than a beginner might have. Good, with the caveats above.
