📚 ABOUT THE BOOK

Ozma of Oz, published in 1907, details Dorothy's return to a transformed Land of Oz.

Dorothy Gale finds herself shipwrecked on the shores of Ev, a kingdom adjacent to Oz, with her cousin, the sickly Prince Button-Bright, and a talking hen named Billina. She soon reunites with familiar Oz companions: the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion, and the Hungry Tiger, who have been imprisoned by the Nome King. The Nome King, a subterranean ruler, has also kidnapped Prince Button-Bright. Dorothy and her friends must confront the Nome King and his subjects to rescue the prince and foil his plans. The narrative involves a journey into the Nome King's underground domain, a place of earth magic and literal gold. The Nome King himself is a figure of considerable power, capable of transforming people into furniture. The Oz characters employ their unique traits to overcome obstacles, with Billina the hen proving surprisingly resourceful. The story contrasts the vibrant, magical world of Oz with the more somber, industrious realm of the Nomes.
